Applying Concealer
Hide flaws with a concealer a shade lighter than your foundation. Try Airbrush Concealer. Shade Neutral Fair is great if you need to hide any redness. Gently pat and roll on skin and press and roll around edges to fade outline. Rubbing tends to remove the concealer. Apply after foundation for better "grab" and coverage.

Birthmarks
In your palm, warm a dab of Continuous Coverage SPF 15. Use your fingertip to pat into place instead of stroking to build up thickness. Lightly feather over regular foundation use a Foundation Brush for easier blending. Finish with a powder rubdown in a shade lighter than usual. Blend, blend, blend.

Concealer Blot-Up
Caused by dry under-eye skin pulling moisture from concealer. Prevent by priming area with moisturising eye cream or gel like All About Eyes or All About Eyes Rich. In the palm of your hand, mix the eye mositurising product suggested for you with concealer. Airbrush Concealer is excellent mixed with eyecream. This gives a smoother, more even finish.

Eye Area Darkness
To combat eye-area darkness, use All About Eyes or All About Eyes Rich. Use a Concealer Brush to apply concealer All About Eyes Concealer precisley. Blend by patting with the ring finger--least likely to tug delicate skin. Use darker concealer on puffs and lighter concealer in hollows, then pat the two together at the edges. Finish with powder just lighter than the rest of face. Avoid purplish shadow, dark liner. A hint of pink blush helps neutralise blue.

Sunburn
Sun smarts: Start each season using Sun Protection with the highest appropriate SPF level, ideally SPF 50. Slather on your sunscreen 30 minutes before sunning. An after-sun product such as After-Sun Rescue Balm with Aloe can be used to help repair damage from UV exposure, soothe skin and reduce redness. For lips, protect and add shine and colour with Moisture Sheer Lipstick SPF 15.

Eyelids - Darkness
Give eyelids the same attention as the rest of the face. Pat and roll to avoid pulling skin. Concealer, or foundation work as primer to hide darkness, tiny capillaries. As an alternative, use Touch Base for Eyes in Canvas or Touch Tints for Eyes and conceal and colour in one step. Use Concealer Brush to apply. Powder lightly before and after eyeshadow for longer wear. To brighten eyes, treat twice daily with All About Eyes or All About Eyes Rich..

Furrows or Freckles
Don't try to erase furrows or freckles - makeup will just look masky. A stay put base carefully powdered won't gather in creases; a sheer foundation like Almost Makeup SPF 15 perfects freckled faces, blends imperceptibly with skin. Choose a makeup base in a colour between your skin and the colour of the freckles. Use a brownish blusher for a more natural look. Choose to conceal any imperfections with Airbrush Concealer.

New Scars
These may be covered as soon as the doctor says so. Dermatologists recommend Continuous Coverage SPF 15 for the way it physically blocks sun, wind, soot and prying eyes from facelift scars or chemical-peel pinkness. Apply powder gently along the scar line, use a matt powder as shine attracts light and will accentuate the scar. Cleanse completely and gently with Comforting Cream Cleanser. Blend well to avoid lines using Foundation Brush.

Old Scars |
When the scar is too wide or too deep to be totally concealed, turn your attention to evening out the surrounding skin colour. Draw attention away from the scar area by playing up a favourite feature, like eyes or lips, by focusing on definition or a more attention-grabbing shade. A bright lipgloss applied to lips always illuminates the skin and draws attention to the mouth instead of the scar. |
