Beauty in Bloom
with Moon Canyon's
Kristen Caissie

Meet California-based florist Kristen Caissie of Moon Canyon Design, whose wildly romantic arrangements and tablescapes are seriously inspiring (fellow California cool girl Jenni Kayne is just one of her fans). Her go-to arrangement? Whimsical floral wreaths. “Composing a wreath isn't just for the festive season—I like making them for parties and weddings. They’re surprisingly easy to create and really make a statement,” says Kristen. She spun some magic for us in her sun-drenched LA studio, sharing her inspiration for a summertime wreath and an equally fresh makeup look to match.

The Inspiration: Wildflowers and Farmers Markets
“Creating floral arrangements starts at the market for me. I love seeing what local growers are bringing—each season is new and fresh. I choose whatever speaks to me and I go from there,” says Kristen. “When creating arrangements, I let the flowers dictate and inspire—they will tell you where they want to go,” she says.

The Colour Palette: Pink + Green
“For this arrangement, my inspiration came from juicy summer peaches and watermelons,” says Kristen. She used anthurium, peonies and dahlias in bright, cheery shades of melon and pink, which really pop against the wreath of vibrant green monstera leaves. “I love to incorporate greenery and fresh herbs into my arrangements, I’ll even forage for them myself while hiking in my neighbourhood,” says Kristen. “Nothing should ever be too perfect or precious. I like it when things are a little asymmetrical and wild,” she says.

The Look: Fresh + Flushed
“Simplicity is key." says Kristen. “Flowers always inspire a lip colour for me." For a lip look as pretty as Kristen’s arrangement, swipe on Clinique Chubby Stick Baby Tint in Budding Blossom or Flowering Freesia. Keep the nature-inspired look going with a grass-green smokey eye using All About Shadow Quad in On Safari. Apply the darker shades along your eyelids and use the lighter shade as a highlight on your brow bones. Get a natural flush by swirling a fluffy brush over Sculptionary Cheek Contouring Palette in Defining Nectars and dusting across the apples of your cheeks.
