I was going to buy a gift set for my friend (mascara + Elixir), but I thought I would smell the Elixir first just to make sure it smells nice - but it does not. I know it is personal taste, but I do not like the smell at all. I love Clinique and all my make-up is from Clinique, but this has not got the quality I expected.

I have been using this fragrance for more years than I care to remember. It truly is unique - it is different on everyone who wears it.Aromatics Elixir is incrdibly versatile, it works as well on a summers day as it does on a winter evening - and it always brings compliments and queries as to what 'that gorgeous perfume' might be.Over the years I have tried other fragrances, of course, but I always come back to this.One thing that might perhaps help other people - at one point whilst I was going thru the menopause, I found that I disliked the way this smelled. For a few months I couldn't stand it, and I was really cross about that too, because I love this stuff, there is nothing else like it on the market. My husband assured me that it smelled exactly the same as usual on me - but to me, it did't.Then one morning I picked up the bottle yet again - smelled it yet again - and it was back to normal!I can't tell you how pleased I was!

I actually purchased this perfume as a gift for the lady who first introduced me to Aromatics. A fabulous fragrance with timeless appeal. Sexy but classy & elegant at the same time. Everyone should have a familiar fragrance which people associate them with. Aromatics has & will always be the one for me!

Not what I expected

Having loved every Clinque product I have ever bought, I was quite surprised not to be a fan of Aromatics Elixir. It has a very powerful smell, which on the upside means you dont need to use much, but was overwhelming for someone used to spraying Eau de Toilette behind her ears and on her wrists. It has strong talc overtones which I think would be more suitable for the older woman rather than someone in their 20s, 30s or 40s.

This has been my signature perfume for many years. However ,now I am in my 60.s I find the fragrance too strong. Was devastated, but now I layer the body wash, body smoother and talc for a subtle fragrance which lasts all day and I always receive compliments.
