When it comes to how to put on lipstick, makeup artists employ an endless number of techniques. For quick applications, try swiping it on directly from the tube. To be extra precise, a Lip Brush makes for perfect painting. Even your fingertip can be a tool if you cleanse your hands first. Just lightly dab lipstick on with a finger and blend softly for a diffused wash of color.

There’s no tried-and-true rule when it comes to selecting a Clinique lipstick—except that you should have fun doing it. Generally though, warm skin tones look best in warm-hued lipsticks and cool skin tones look best in blue-based reds and pinks. A Clinique Consultant can help guide you to your most flattering shades.

You can also take the guesswork out of choosing a lipstick color with Clinique Shade Match Science™. It finds the best lip shades for your unique complexion based on your foundation shade.

If you’re asking about long-wearing lipstick techniques, line and fill in lips with Quickliner™ For Lips first, before applying lipstick. It helps prevent lipstick from feathering and bleeding. Need more lipstick tips? Chat with a Clinique Expert.

Lipstick does expire so to help ensure the life of your lipstick, store it in a cool, dark place. If you find the colour or texture has changed or that your lipstick has a different smell, toss it even if it hasn’t been opened.
